Auburn, Al. - LSU started its SEC play with a strong first half against the Auburn Tigers but could not finish off the effort, losing 68-63 in first year head coach Johnny Jones' conference debut.

Guards Charles Carmouche, Andre Stringer, and Anthony Hickey all had double-digit scoring but the Tigers only got 12 points from four bench players and ultimately, their lack of depth cost them as Auburn went on a 16-2 run in the second half to put the game out of reach.

The Tigers finished strong with a 13-4 run to end the game but it was not enough.  LSU returns home to face Florida Saturday at 1 p.m.
