For most of the 19th century, the January 8th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans was an official national holiday ranking just behind the Fourth of July in displays of fireworks and patriotic fervor. Tulane University graduate historian Shelene Roumillat will celebrate the 198th anniversary with a fascinating look at celebrations of the famous battle.
