Severe weather damages homes in Washington Parish

Franklinton, La. -

Stormy weather Thursday produced high winds that damaged homes in Washington Parish.

The roof of one home on Highway 430 in Franklinton came off at around noon Thursday. The owner of the home, Jeffrey Travis, was inside alone and wasn't injured. He says he heard the wind howling outside and the next thing he knew, his roof was blown off.

Travis lives in the home with his wife and four relatives. Neighbors and friends helped pick up the pieces and remove things from the home before they were destroyed by the rain.

Two other properties in Franklinton also were affected by the storm. A carport was damaged and a trailer had its siding ripped off.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal says he's glad no one was injured in the storm.
