One dead in St. Rose shooting

St. Rose, La.- Police say a St. Rose man was found shot to death inside of a car around 10:30 Friday night.

Police were called to the 600 block of Mockingbird Lane in St. Rose in regards to a subject being shot.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a gold colored Toyota Camry in the driveway with numerous bullet holes and an unresponsive black male subject in the driver's seat.

The victim, identified as Michael McCray, was the driver of the vehicle. The passenger, Leslie Reed, sustained no injuries during the incident.

McCray was transported to St. Charles Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say McCray and Reed were sitting in a vehicle parked at the location when three unknown black males approached the vehicle dressed in all black clothing with hoodies.

One of the subjects produced a handgun and fired several rounds at the vehicle.  McCray put the vehicle in reverse in an attempt to flee, but sustained several gun shots wounds before being able to flee.

The three unknown subjects fled the scene on foot.

Reed, who allegedly admitted to smoking Marijuana inside the vehicle was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
