HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Brandon Fortenberry scored 21 points, Roosevelt Johnson had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Southeastern Louisiana held off Nicholls State 70-65 in a Southland Conference game on Saturday.
The Lions (5-9, 3-1) have won four of their past five games.
Fred Hunter had 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Nicholls State (3-11, 2-2), and Jeremy Smith scored 19 and Dantrell Thomas 14.
Southeastern led by as many as 12 points in the second half at 45-33 with 14:38 to go on Johnson's two free throws, but Nicholls State gradually pulled to 56-50 with 5:38 left on Hunter's jumper.
Johnson hit two free-throws for a 62-52 lead at 3:23, but the Colonels closed to 64-63 on Thomas' six straight points ending at 1:02.
Antonnio Benton hit a jumper and Fortenberry made two free throws for a 68-63 Lions lead at 26 seconds, and Southeastern held on.
