Raceland, La.- One man is both victim and suspect in a weekend shooting investigation in Raceland.
Lafourche parish deputies booked two men and they're looking for a third in the incident that started with a fight Saturday morning. Detectives are still trying to track down Jacques D. Thomas. Investigators say he's wanted for the attempted second degree murder of John Ashe.
It all started when Ashe and Thomas got into a fight inside a house. Ashe allegedly caused damage to the residence and threatened Thomas with a kitchen knife. Thomas got away but detectives say he plotted revenge. Investigators say Thomas asked another man, Shentrelle Gray to drive him to find Ashe. When the men spotted Ashe, Thomas allegedly fired shots at him, which struck a bystander in the elbow instead. That person was treated for minor injuries and released. Detectives arriving at the scene found the car and caught up with Thomas walking away. They took him into custody and quickly found Gray as well.
Ashe is booked with assault, battery and criminal property damage. Deputies booked Gray as an accessory after the fact to attempted second degree murder.
As for Thomas, detectives say he is a convicted felon and when captured, is also facing a charge of possessing a firearm in the incident.
