Covington, La. - A Covington man has been arrested for shooting his 19-year old son in the abdomen during a disturbance at a house party, St. Tammany Sheriff Jack Strain said.
Police say 43 year-old Jody Camardelle was booked with 2nd degree battery.
Officers received a call from Camardelle's residence around 10:00pm Saturday reporting the shooting.
Witnesses reported Camardelle and his son got into an argument during a party at the father's house.
The son and his girlfriend went to the front yard of the home in an attempt to let the father calm down. A short time later, Camardelle emerged from his garage armed with a gun and began shouting at his son. Camardelle fired one round, striking his son in the abdomen.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to a hospital in New Orleans.
Camardelle was still at the residence when Sheriff's deputies arrived. He was brought to the Sheriff's office complex for questioning; however, he was uncooperative with detectives.
An arrest warrant was obtained and Camardelle was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail early Sunday morning.
Camardelle's bond has not yet been set.
