Metairie, La. - The busy corner of Veterans Boulevard and North Causeway Boulevard in Metairie gets reinvented again with several new businesses.
The site of the old Border's Book store has been transformed into shops and an eatery.
A new pizza restaurant, Mellow Mushroom, takes over the top floor of a two-story strip mall. Massey's Sportswear has relocated from its old site on Severn Avenue. Shoppers will also see a storefront for Scottrade and Massage Envy.
Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng says, "it's really thriving. I think it has a lot to do with the beautification efforts we've done, the landscaping and the sculptures. But that's the story of Veterans Boulevard in the last year, a lot of new development."
Sheng remembers when her family's restaurant, "The House of Lee", occupied the site. She says it is exciting to see the space transformed into something new again.
