New Orleans activates freeze plan for homeless


NEW ORLEANS (AP) - With temperatures expected to drop to 35 degrees or below overnight Wednesday and early Thursday, the City of New Orleans has activated its freeze plan to provide temporary shelter for the homeless.

City officials say persons needing shelter will be accepted at the following locations:

- The Salvation Army, men and women.

- The Ozanam Inn, men only.

- The Covenant House, men and women between the ages of 16-21, their dependent children, and any female with dependent minor children.

- New Orleans Mission, men and women.

All shelters are free of charge during this period of inclement weather.
