Slidell man arrested for robbing teen

Slidell, La.- Police arrested 18-year-old Kendrick Wise Saturday after he robbed a 15-year-old boy.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, police recieved a 911 call from the juvenile victim who reported having just been robbed.

Deputies arrived within minutes and located the boy standing in front of an abandoned house on East Hillcrest Dr.

The teen told police that he had been riding his bicycle in the area when he was approached by Wise.  According to the boy, Wise told him that he had a gun and demanded the boy's backpack.

Wise then punched the victim in the face, grabbed the backpack and fled toward the back yard of the abandoned house.

The victim used a nearby pedestrian's cell phone to call police.

Responding deputies were familiar with Wise and were able to make phone contact with him through several known acquaintances.  Wise returned to the deputies' location voluntarily.

After Wise and the victim were both interviewed, Wise was transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail and booked with one count of first degree robbery and one count of second degree battery.

His bond has not yet been set.
