New Orleans, La.- A Federal judge set a new trial date for a former NOPD officer accused of helping cover up the death of Henry Glover after Hurricane Katrina.
According to court documents, former Lieutenant Travis McCabe will be retried on March 11th.
McCabe was originally convicted of making false statements to the F.B.I.
But in May of 2011 the court ordered a new trial because of newly discovered evidence.
Former NOPD Officer David Warren was the alleged triggerman in the shooting of Glover. Warren's original conviction was also overturned. His new trial is scheduled to begin March 18th.
At the time of the fatal shooting Warren says he believed Glover was an armed looter and a threat to him at an Algiers strip mall. Glover's body was found inside a burned out car dumped behind the a levee in Algiers. The court also overturned the conviction of co-defendant, former NOPD Officer Greg McRae who was accused of burning Glover's body. McRae was convicted of four federal crimes, including the use of fire to commit a felony.
