New Orleans, La.- The first riders will get a trip on New Orleans' newest streetcar line Monday, January 28.

The RTA will host a news conference and opening ceremony for the Loyola streetcar line at 11 a.m.

Special guests will take the inaugural ride at noon on the newly constructed tracks which link Canal Street with the Union Passenger Terminal.

The $45 million dollar project will provide easy mass transit access to the French Quarter, Central Business District and Superdome for visitors arriving in New Orleans by train and bus.

The completion in time for the Super Bowl will also give football fans another option to get to the game from French Quarter hotels.

The project includes five transit shelters, replaced underground utilities, road paving and landscaping.
