New Orleans, La. -
A Galvez Street shop owner shoots and kills a man who he says threatened him. Now neighbors of the detail shop say they're relieved the shop owner has not been charged with a homicide.
Neighbors feared the worst when they heard the gunfire Thursday night, coming from the direction of Easy Finish Auto.
The neighbors ran to see what happened and found that shop owner Herbert Golden was alive, but another man was fatally wounded in front of the shop.
The shop owner was too shaken up to go on camera, but he told FOX 8 the dispute involved a vehicle he loaned to another man.
The man showed up around 9:00 p.m., with yet another man, who began arguing and pulled a weapon on Golden. But the shop owner had a gun of his own, and fatally shot the man who drew first. It's a relief for friends of Golden.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has identified the dead man as 28-year-old Eric Dorsey.
Police have not charged Golden with any crime at this point, as they work to determine whether this fatal shooting was a case of justifiable homicide.
