New Orleans, La - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced a Super Bowl ferry schedule. The schedule will only be in effect on February 2nd and February 3rd. Afterwards, ferries will resume their normal schedules. The following is from a release that FOX 8 received from DOTD on Tuesday:
· The Chalmette Ferry, which services the route to and from Lower Algiers, will operate on its normal schedule, beginning at 6 a.m., making its last trip from Chalmette at 8:45 p.m., with departures from Lower Algiers on the hour and half hour and from Chalmette on the quarter hour. Chalmette is a vehicle only route.
· The Gretna Ferry, which services the route to and from Canal Street, will go into service at 12:45 p.m. and make its last trip from Gretna at 11:30 p.m. and its last trip from Canal at midnight. Departures from Gretna will be made on the half hour and from Canal on the hour. Gretna is a pedestrian only route.
· The Algiers Ferry, which services the route to and from Algiers Point to Canal Street, will operate its normal schedule, beginning at 6 a.m., making its last trip from Algiers at midnight and its last trip from Canal at 12:15 a.m. Departures from Algiers Point will be every hour and half hour, and from Canal on every quarter hour. Algiers is a vehicle and pedestrian route.
