$4 million plan to rehab Schwegmann property

New Orleans, La. - Developers have a $4 million plan to revamp the site of an old Schwegmann's store.

According to our partners at CityBusiness, a $4 million building permit has been filed to rehab the property on North Broad in lower Mid-City. Plans for the commercial project include space for health and nutrition-focused tenants, nonprofits, a café and other retail.

Last year, Whole Foods suggested it was interested in moving into the site. It has not confirmed it will open a store there.

Developers hope to have the site rebuilt by summer.
