The NFL Experience opened Wednesday afternoon at the Morial Convention Center to long lines and excited crowds.

Nine-year-old Annie Mitchell says, "There's all sorts of different games you can play."

Kids can jump into a pit of foam blocks to pretend they're diving for a touchdown or even pretend to be a player by hopping into one of their uniforms.  But it's not just kids getting in on the fun -- there are activities for people of all ages.

Greg Rousselle brought his entire football team to the convention center to celebrate one player's birthday. He says he was surprised to see just how much there is for everyone to do. "It's incredible, it really is. From the 40-yard dash and the field goal kicking to the little punt catch thing over there, the drills, it's really neat," Rousselle said.

One of the highlights of the NFL Experience for many people is seeing the Lombardi trophy. It was carried into the convention center Wednesday afternoon by former Saint Deuce McAllister.

"It was a pretty special feeling. Obviously I played the game but just to be a fan and know you're a part of it and bringing that trophy in, and one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday is gonna win it.  So it's a pretty neat thing to, say, cross off your quote-unquote bucket list," McAllister said.

Fans are allowed to get their picture taken next to the trophy, which was an overwhelming moment for some.  Peggy Champagne said, "I did have to wipe away a little tear on the way up. It was wonderful."

Most of the visitors to the NFL Experience Wednesday are from New Orleans and the surrounding areas.  While most say they won't attend the game in the Dome Sunday, they say this was a great opportunity to expose their kids to what a Super Bowl is all about.

"This is awesome to have in the city right now for us to be able to do and experience," said Jenna Robichaux.

Admission to the NFL Experience costs $25 for adults, $20 for children. It's open 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. until Sunday, when it closes at 4:00 p.m. -- just in time for the game.
