Police search for man wanted for French Quarter robbery

New Orleans, La.- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for a simple robbery Saturday morning in the 200 block of North Rampart Street.

It happened shortly before 6 a.m. when the victim was walking back to her vehicle in a parking garage when she was stopped by the suspect who then took her cellular phone from her and demanded cash.

Investigators say when the victim stated she didn't have any cash, the suspect began going through her purse, took her cash and then asked the victim where she lived and told her that he needed a ride home.

As the suspect began walking with the victim to her car, he got scared as other customers entered the garage and fled on Iberville Street back into the French Quarter.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, approximately 20 years old with a medium build and medium complexion with short hair.

He possibly had two gold teeth on the top of his mouth and two more on the bottom.

The suspect was shown wearing a brown jacket, white t-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes in this surveillance footage.
