Metairie, LA -- Since there are no parades running in the city of New Orleans, tourists in town for the Super Bowl are looking to get a taste of Mardi Gras.
They're crossing the border on into Jefferson Parish for a fun filled weekend at Family Gras.
New Orleans' own Cowboy Mouth wows a sea of carnival fans and Super Bowl tourists packing the neutral ground in Metairie.
This year's Family Gras in smack-dab in the middle of Super Bowl XLVII and Jefferson Parish is hoping to cash in with thousands of tourists in the area.
"I'm staying here in Metairie in the hotel,so we asked the people at the hotel what's going on and they said come to Family Gras," says Baltimore Ravens Fan, Dan Coleman.
Organizers have made it easy for Super Bowl fans to get to Metairie.
"Actually, we did many things New Orleans TV, that's in the hotel. We ran Family Gras commercials in the luggage area at the airport. We also have brochures that we went to all the hotels concierges desks to let them know that Family Gras is going on and that we offer a free shuttle from downtown; we picked up in two locations," says Family Gras Organizer, Violet Peters
Jefferson Parish hopes a Super Bowl crowd comes back to "Laissez les bon temps rouller".
People are coming from all over. We've had people from Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, Canada and New Jersey. We're really seeing the visitors that we envision seeing. So we're excited about it," says Peters.
