FOX 8 News received this press release from the office of New Orleans City Council Member Cynthia Hedge-Morrell Monday evening:
City Council Utility Committee Chairman and District "D" Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell has called an emergency meeting for Friday, February 8 at 9 a.m. to investigate the power outage during the Super Bowl.
"This past week, we have shown the world what a great city New Orleans is, and that we are back! However, I am extremely disappointed in the power failure at the Superdome during last night's Super Bowl game. It was the only flaw in an otherwise spectacular Super Bowl experience," said Councilmember Hedge-Morrell.
"The Utility Committee will fully investigate this outage. I have directed our advisors to press Entergy New Orleans for answers. Our advisors are already discussing this with Entergy and expect to receive additional information about the cause as it is discovered. We cannot ignore major glitches like this, especially when they occur on the international stage," Hedge-Morrell said.
Representatives of Entergy New Orleans will be present to provide a report on the cause of the outage, and steps taken to correct it.
The emergency meeting will be Friday, February 8th at 9 a.m.
