Man found shot to death in vacant Lower 9th Ward lot


New Orleans, La.-  New Orleans police try to find out who killed a man in an empty lot in the Lower Ninth Ward.

The following is a press release issued by the NOPD Monday afternoon.   

Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of an unidentified man. The victim was found shortly after 3pm in a vacant lot at the intersection of Benton and North Miro Street. 
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The victim was found by a lawn crew cutting grass in the area. The men immediately notified the NOPD. The officers arrived and found the victim unresponsive.  He'd been shot several times and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. 

Homicide Detective Darryl Doucette is in charge of the investigation.
