New Orleans, La. - The rumor mill has been swirling around the Saints' search for a defensive coordinator.  Some reports stated that former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will be the choice by Friday.

Head coach Sean Payton spoke to FOX 8's Jennifer Hale at Wednesday's Hornets game to clear up the team's process.

"I don't know if we're going to have one by Friday," Payton said.  "We've got two candidates coming in and we're waiting on a third at the early part of next week, but we're doing our homework on it and I think we'll have an answer here in the next seven days.  We know that one of the guys coming in this evening that we'll be visiting with tomorrow is Todd Grantham.  Rob Ryan will be in on Friday, and then I'm going to wait on the third guy sharing his name, because we're waiting for permission from another club."

As for Payton, he is still getting settled back into his routine: "It's exciting, there's a lot of work we have to do.  I'm in a new office, our facility has been renovated and I've got a lot of unpacking and boxes but right now, the most important thing is getting the right coaches before we get to the combine."
