Raceland, La.- The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office released the following information Friday about the sentencing of a convicted drug dealer.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre commended the justice system this week for the sentencing of a known drug dealer to lengthy prison sentence. Jeremy Jones (B/M, D.O.B. 07/29/84), also known as "Tip Toe," pled guilty this week to charges of distribution of cocaine and aggravated burglary. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

"This is an unfortunate example of someone that started dealing drugs at a young age, and then progressed into committing violent crimes," said Sheriff Webre. "Jeremy Jones was a mid-level dealer who was a source of supply mainly for the southern area of Lafourche Parish. I am extremely pleased that we have removed this violent criminal from the community thanks to the work of our agents and the District Attorney's Office.

Judge John E. LeBlanc sentenced Jones to 25 years for the drug charge and 15 years on the burglary charge, with sentences to run concurrently. Jones, whose criminal history began at age 17, has been arrested 16 times for a number of charges including attempted second degree murder and numerous drug charges. His most recent arrest came on June 1, 2012, when he and three other men were charged in an armed robbery which occurred at a residence in Raceland.

In a release from the District Attorney's office, Assistant District Attorney Annette Fontana, who handled the case, praised the efforts of the Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force for their part in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
