St. John the Baptist Parish officials moved the start time to 11 a.m. Sunday due to the potentional of severe weather.
In addition, the Krewe of Napoleon in Metairie will also roll a half hour early at 5 p.m.
Meteorologists say severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area Sunday afternoon and evening as a result of a cold front moving across the region. Damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornados, lightning and localized flooding will be the main threats during the weather event.
Residents should use caution when going outside and when on roads. The St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center is monitoring weather forecasts for any changes.
