Police search for man in sexual assault Saturday

New Orleans, La.- Police are asking for your help in locating and identifying a man who sexually assaulted a 22-year-old woman early Saturday morning.

Police say the man was driving a silver two-door older model vehicle and he is described as African-American man in his late 20s, clean shaven with a low cropped hairstyle and dark skinned with a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a khaki colored "fisherman's" hat and a light blue polo style shirt.

Investigators say the woman separated from her friends around 2:30 a.m. on Bourbon Street and flagged down what she thought was a taxi a couple of streets away.

The woman then asked the man to drive her to her hotel, at which time the man agreed, but drove her to an unknown location, produced a handgun and sexually assaulted her.

After the sexual assault, the man drove to Simon Bolivar and Calliope Streets where he instructed her to get out the car.

Anyone with any information on this man's identity or whereabouts is urged to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111.
