Covington, La.- Cell phone video discovered during an unrelated investigation leads the State Fire Marshal to two suspects in an arson fire that injured a firefighter January 14.

The Fire Marshal booked 21-year old Michael Ellis Mathieu and 24 year old Corey D. Eshleman with simple arson and injury by arson.

St. Tammany Fire District 12 responded to the fire at 73459 N. Lee Road near Covington when a passerby noticed the smoke and flames. A firefighter was burned on his neck.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire which, along with evidence at the scene, immediately raised suspicions of arson.

St. Tammany Sheriff's Office investigators looking into an unrelated crime came across video on a suspect's cell phone which showed the two men driving by with the fire in the background, discussing what they had done.

Based on the video and additional information gathered during the investigation the Fire Marshal arrested Mathieu and Eshleman Friday, February 8.

Investigators say Mathieu once lived in the house.
