FOX 8 received this news release from the Thibodaux Police Department Wednesday afternoon:

Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii announced the arrest of Michael Coleman (B/M, 21, 10xx Harrison Street in Thibodaux) for Assault by Drive-By Shooting.

Around 11:55 a.m. Sunday morning, October 14, 2012 Thibodaux Police responded to the 200 Block of Sanders Street, where an armed gunman in a green truck had shot at two males, one of which was Javonte Johnson. The gunman, Michael Coleman, missed his intended targets and shot surrounding homes and vehicles.

Johnson returned fire at Coleman as he drove away. The shooting, Police believed, was in retaliation for a shooting that happened the night before, where the victim was shot in the leg a block away. Javonte Johnson, who had went into hiding, was located and arrested the following day for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, while Coleman remained at large.

February 8, 2013 Police learned that Coleman was being held at the Terrebonne Parish Jail. He was picked up, and brought to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking, and is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
