FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Department Wednesday afternoon:
Yesterday, NOPD detectives arrested 20-year-old Marvin Davis in the 7000 block of Bullard Avenue in New Orleans East. Davis was arrested at the business he held up early Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at 5:03am, a masked man walked into the store and leaped across the counter and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier complied with the masked gunman's demands at which time the cashier handed over $4000 in cash and two bottles of "Ace of Spades" champagne valued at $1000. During the robbery, the mask fell off of the suspect's face and the store's employee immediately recognized the suspect as one of the regular customers. The man later identified as Marvin Davis came back to the store around 9:40am to make a purchase when the store employee immediately called the police. Officers were already in the area and heard the call come out over the NOPD police radio and officers responded to the incident and arrested Davis without incident.
Detectives Debra Normand and Perrin Gaines obtained a search warrant for Davis's residence located in the 12000 block of I10 Service Road, which is a short distance from the store. The search recovered the two bottles of champagne, the pistol, money and the clothing he wore to commit the robbery.
Davis had no prior adult arrest record.
Davis is currently being held at Central Lockup for one count of Armed Robbery with a Gun.
