MARINGOUIN, La. (AP) - Authorities say a school bus went into a bayou in Maringouin after hitting a house.

The accident happened on La. Highway 76 around 7:15 a.m. Thursday.

Maringouin police tell WBRZ TV there were 20 students on the bus when the wreck happened, and four were taken a local hospital complaining about head and back pain.

Investigators said the driver told them he couldn't turn the bus, and hit the house rather than run into a tree.

Police ticketed the bus driver for failure to maintain control.
