New Orleans, La.- Transportation Security Administration screeners discovered a loaded handgun in a passenger's carry-on bag at Armstrong International Airport Thursday afternoon.
TSA agents released a picture of the loaded .45 pistol along with a warning to air travelers.
"We continue to remind passengers that it is important to know what's inside their carry-on bags." Said Jon Allen, TSA spokesman.
Passengers who bring firearms to a checkpoint could face civil penalties.
According to the TSA, last year agents discovered 1,549 firearms at airport checkpoints nationwide including 14 at New Orleans. This was the fourth gun discovered this year at Armstrong International.
