Chalmette, La.- Police arrested 35-year-old Robert Clark and 37-year-old Jaime Schlosser for burglarizing a bar on Wednesday after investigators found their apartment key on the floor.
While investigating the break-in, detectives located the key on the floor near a pool table with a green cord attached to it, along with other physical evidence at the scene.
Police say several cartons of cigarettes were also stolen from a bar on Judge Perez Drive on January 31 around 2 a.m.
Investigators say the door key found at the scene of the burglary did fit the couple's apartment door which then led to Clark and Schlosser's arrest.
Police say the bar had been closed for the night at 1 a.m. and no key was seen on the floor at that time, but it was spotted by detectives processing the scene after the burglary was discovered.
Clark and Schlosser denied involvement in the break-in and both have been released from jail on $10,000 bonds each.
