NOPD captain investigated by Office of Inspector General

New Orleans, La.- The New Orleans Office of Inspector General has opened a criminal investigation involving NOPD Captain Edwin Hosli.

The revelation was made during a Civil Service Commission meeting Monday morning.

Hosli is trying to get back to full duty with the NOPD. The department placed him on administrative reassignment in 2010 for allegedly running an improper paid detail.

The OIG will not disclose any details of the criminal investigation.

Hosli's attorney says he was surprised to learn his client is being investigated.

The Civil Service Commission will not rule on Hosli's request to be returned to full service for another few weeks.
