Wade Crawford & Mitchell Moody (St. Bernard Sheriff's Office)
Chalmette, La. – St. Bernard Parish deputies say they caught two men trying to bring $500 worth of methamphetamine into the parish.
Deputies booked 34-year-old Wade Crawford of Chalmette and 32-year-old Mitchell Moody of Picayune, Miss. with possession of 5.2 grams of meth with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann says deputies stopped the men last Friday as they drove into the parish because Crawford nearly rear-ended another vehicle. Pohlmann also says Moody, a passenger, was holding an open can of beer.
While deputies questioned the men outside the vehicle, the sheriff says a clear plastic bag containing meth fell to the ground between Crawford and Moody. Deputies say both men denied that the bag was theirs.
Sheriff Pohlmann says two syringes were also found in their vehicle.
In addition to drug charges, deputies booked Crawford with driving without a license and Moody with having an open alcohol container and resisting arrest.
