Mandeville, La.- State highway officials announce plans to address one of the worst traffic choke points in western St. Tammany parish.

Work will begin in April to widen a busy stretch of US highway 190 over Bayou Chinchuba in Mandeville.

Previous road work widened the highway to four lanes, but the approach and bridge over the bayou remained just two lanes.

That existing two-lane bridge over the bayou will be replaced with two new bridge spans which will be two lanes each.

The $11.3 million dollar project should be finished by the spring of 2014.
