New Orleans, La. - A New Orleans police officer shot Saturday morning is showing signs of improvement.
In an update Monday, the NOPD says officer John Passaro remains in intensive care, but the department says he is in good spirits.
They say Passaro and his family are both touched by the love and support they've received.
A gunman wounded Passaro early Saturday morning when he walked in on an armed robbery in progress at a Dollar General store on Poland Avenue.
Detectives refined the suspect's description based on interviews and say the gunman is about 35 or 40 years old, 5' foot 7'' and weighs between 140 and 150 pounds.
Police warn he should be considered armed and dangerous and urge anyone who sees him to call 911.
