Houma Oscar nominee sparks fashion trend

Houma, La. - An oscar nominee from Houma puts a little bit of a spin on the typical rush to imitate Oscar fashion.

Cameras have been taking pictures of Quvenzhané Wallis wearing puppy purses throughout this year's red carpet season.

Poochie & Co. makes the purses. A representative says sales of the bags have increased more than 10% since Wallis started making them her fashion staple.

Wallis with a silver headband in her hair on Oscar night, wore an Armani Junior navy-blue dress with black, navy and silver jewels scattered on the skirt and a big bow on the back. She had another Armani dress, a pink one, ready for the afterparty. "I liked it because it was sparkly and puffy," said the best actress nominee.
