New Orleans, La. - The struggling Hornets announced Friday that they are shutting down Jason Smith for the season due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
The injury has plagued Smith for most of the season but the team decided to schedule surgery for next week and end his season. He has appeared in 51 of the Hornets' 59 games on the year and averaged 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 17:10 minutes per game.
