Motorcycle accident claims the life of a Houma man

Houma, La - Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop C are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a Houma man. The accident occurred Saturday, just after 4:00 p.m. on Hwy 660 just north of Hwy 3087. The man has been identified as 33-year-old Robb Martinez.

Police say that Martinez was traveling south on Hwy 660 when he failed to make a left curve on the road. The motorcycle exited the roadway before landing in a grassy area where Martinez was ejected. Martinez then struck a utility pole. Martinez was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators believe that speed and lack of riding knowledge may have been factors in the crash. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. Toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
