Southern plans anti-violence march

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Southern University will hold a "Stop the Violence March" Tuesday to protest violence in Baton Rouge.

The Advocate reports the march is scheduled for 5 p.m. University spokeswoman Erin Fulbright says students and residents from the surrounding community will gather in the Sith-Brown Memorial Union Courtyard at 4:30 p.m. before proceeding down E.C. Harrison Drive.

The march will end at the Southern University Law Center.

Participants will then join law students in front of the law school for a candlelight vigil to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin who was killed in his Florida neighborhood while walking home from a convenience store.
