NOPD: Man shot to death while fixing a vehicle


New Orleans, La - Homicide detectives with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the shooting death of an unidentified man in New Orleans East. The incident occurred Sunday, just after 4:00 p.m. in the 4700 block of Werner Drive.

According to police, the victim's family stated that the man was in the driveway repairing a vehicle, when they heard several gunshots ring out. They rushed outside to find the man bleeding from his head. Responding officers arrived on the scene to find the man lying under the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses told police that they noticed an African American man running from the scene and getting into a silver or gray Chevrolet SUV that was parked nearby.
