New Orleans, La.- Louisiana's merchandise exports set a new record for growth between 2011 and 2012.
A U.S. Department of Commerce report shows Louisiana is one of eleven states with double digit growth in exports in 2012.
Louisiana's increased by 15% to a record $63.2 billion dollars in 2012. Louisiana's largest export market was China followed by Mexico.
According to U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank, 29 states set new records for export sales in 2012. New Mexico had the most impressive increase of 42%. Nationwide the value of goods and services exported in 2012 was $2.2 trillion.
