Public meeting to be held on NOPD consent decree

Updated:

New Orleans, La. - A public meeting on the New Orleans Police Department Consent Decree will take place Thursday.

The monitor selection committee will hold a series of public meetings to get feedback on the process of selecting a monitor for the consent decree.

The first one is Thursday at one p.mm at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome.

The public is invited to provide comments in writing to the city attorney Richard Cortizas.

The agreement between the city and the Justice Department spells out sweeping reforms for the N.O.P.D. and will cost the city roughly 11 million dollars a year.
