LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - Livingston Parish authorities say a Denham Springs man has been booked with second-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Brandon Steele Parnell, whose body was found in the Blind River this week.
Parish Sheriff's office spokeswoman Lori Steele says in a news release that 23-year-old Joshua M. Mitchell was arrested Saturday.
Steele says Parnell was shot once in the head at close range and his body was dumped into the Blind River Canal off of U.S. Highway 61, just north of Gramercy.
Steele says Mitchell's bail has been set at $500,000.
Mitchell was being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
Steele says the investigation into Parnell's death is continuing.
