New Orleans, La - The Fatality Unit of the New Orleans Police Department is investigating a motorcycle accident that left an unidentified man dead. The accident occurred Sunday, just before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Lonely Oak Drive.

According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling west on Chef Menteur Highway when he struck a car that was attempting to turn left on to Lonely Oak Drive from Chef Menteur Highway. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation into this case continues. Blood and alcohol tests are pending. An autopsy will be performed to find the exact cause of death.
