Reward increase in 2004 shooting death

The reward in a nine year old murder case doubles to $10,000.

Crimestoppers announced the new reward Wednesday in the 2004 murder of John MacLellan.

Crimestopper's director, Darlene Cusanza and MacLellans's siblings made the announcement at the Lakeview site where he was shot to death back on July 16, 2004.

Cusanza said an anonymous donor gave $5,000 dollars after hearing about the death of Dave MacLellan, John's father.

Before Dave MacLellan's death, he traveled to New Orleans monthly in search of his son's killer.

According to Cusanza, the death of the victim's father "moved" the donor. He wished he could have met Dave himself, but he wanted to help," she said.

"I would like to thank the generous anonymous donor that made this $5000 donation to John's case, aid Kristyn Lahiff, John MacLellan's sister. "I'd like to implore whoever knows any information to please step forward and help us."

"We plan to keep pursuing that mission my father started and carry that on until justice is served in my brother's case, said Michael MacLellan, the victim's brother.

Anyone with information in the July, 2004 shooting at West Harrison Avenue and Bellaire Drive is urged to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
