New Orleans, La. -
Two days into the NFL free agency period, cornerback Keenan Lewis, late of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has agreed to a five-year deal with the Saints.
Reports have Lewis making somewhere within the $26 million range. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports $10.5 million of that contract is guaranteed money.
To make things even better, Lewis is a local guy. He went to O.P. Walker High School in New Orleans.
Lewis had this to say on his Facebook page: "I am a New Orleans Saints, we rock , we roll check out Keenan in the black and gold.# team who dat. It's official".
Lewis had some nice numbers with the Steelers last season, including 71 tackles and 23 passes defended, second most in the league. It seems like he's a good fit for the Saints' new 3-4 scheme.
The Saints' official news release quotes Lewis as saying, "I'm very excited to be able to come back to my hometown. Having grown up here I understand the passion that the fans have for the Saints and I'm blessed to be able to have the chance to play in front of them here in the future. I had a great visit with the Saints and am thankful for the time I spent with the Pittsburgh Steelers and wish them continued success."
