NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Metro Nashville Police say a man handling a
pistol in a motel room has fatally shot one of his sons.
Police said they do not believe the shooting was intentional.
A gunshot to the chest of 10-month-old Adam Bass resulted in the baby's
death Thursday night.
Police said the boy's father, 30-year-old Larry Bass, was holding the
semi-automatic pistol when it discharged. Also in the room were Bass' wife and
the couple's other sons, ages 3 and 2. They were not hurt.
Detective said Larry Bass is an iron worker, who was doing work at the Music City
Center site. The family
is from Texas and was staying at an Extended
Stay America near Nashville International Airport.
