Four New Orleans chefs nominated as best in the south

New York, NY-New Orleans chefs make the cut as finalists are announced for the 2013 James Beard Foundation awards, considered the "Oscars" of the culinary world.

Four area chefs make the cut as nominees for Best Chef in the south: Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery, Tory McPhail of Commanders Palace, Alon Shaya of Dominica and Sue Zemanick of Gautreau's.

Restaurant August earned a nomination for Outstanding Restaurant.

Emeril Lagasse has been selected at this year's James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year.

The awards will be handed out in May in New York City.
