NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 21-year-old Winnsboro woman, who police believe set herself on fire in a local park in October after claiming she was attacked by Klansmen, faces two felony charges.
District Attorney Mack Lancaster tells The News-Star Sharmeka Moffitt has been booked with one count of terrorizing and one count of false swearing for the purpose of violating public safety.
Moffitt's arraignment is set for April 23.
Moffitt suffered burns to the majority of her body.
She called police and said she was attacked while walking in the park by three men in white hoodies who set her on fire. Police also found the words "KKK" and a racial slur written in toothpaste on the hood of Moffitt's car.
It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
