FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Friday evening:
Homicide
Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man and
the injuring of another man. The shooting happened at or about 5P.M., in the
2100 block of Saint Ann Street. The name of the victim is being withheld
pending notification of family members.
Officers
were called out for gunfire erupting in the area. Officers arrived and found
the 30-year-old male victim lying on the sidewalk; he was shot several
times and was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers learned of a second
victim, a 39-year-old male who was shot once in the foot, he was transported to
the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators
are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify
the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
The
Homicide Division is in charge of the investigation.
