Baton Rouge, La. - People who want more time to file their state tax return have a new standard to meet.

The Louisiana Department of Revenue says anyone looking for an extension this year must submit a request electronically.

Department workers don't want people confused by printable extension request forms available through some tax preparation software programs. Just because you can print the forms does not mean the documents will be processed, if they're mailed.

Individual Income Tax extension requests are due May 15.

Corporation Income and Franchise Tax extension requests are due April 15.
